The third major we will study is the D Major scale. Just like G Major scale we studied earlier in this post, we start from the note D and write the notes in order, up to D an octave higher. First, we notice that E-F interval is a natural semitone. To form the major scale, we raise F by a semitone with a sharp, making it F#. Next, we observe that the interval C-D is a tone, but for the major scale, we need it to be a semitone. Therefore, we raise C (the 7th degree of the scale) by a semitone with a sharp, making it C#. Thus, in the D Major scale, we have two sharps: F# and C#, the key signature of the scale!

Has 2 sharps: F & D

D Major scale ascending & descending on Treble & Bass clef in whole notes.

The D major scale also has 8 degrees, which include the sharps in its key signature. Can you find which degrees contain the key signature?

We must pay attention to the top notes of 3rd & 7th interval!
In D Major, the tonic triad consists of:
- Root: D
- Third: F#
- Fifth: A
